Role Overview

The Senior Project Controls Specialist will lead project controls processes to ensure engineering, procurement, and construction projects are delivered on schedule and within budget
. This role partners closely with internal project management, accounting, and field teams to manage cost control, scheduling, forecasting, and reporting across multiple infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with enterprise project controls systems
, critical path scheduling, earned value management, and financial forecasting in complex project environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Controls & Planning
    • Lead project controls setup and execution within Enterprise Planning & Controls systems
    • Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
    • Create and manage schedules at multiple levels of detail
    • Apply and review logic ties
      , critical paths, and resource loading
    • Perform schedule what-if scenarios and impact analyses
  • Cost, Forecasting & Reporting
    • Develop and maintain cost reports, schedules, cash flows, and forecasts
    • Input, document, and manage changes to cost reports and forecasts
    • Develop and present cash flow reports
    • Review upstream (prime contract) and downstream (PO & subcontract) change orders
    • Approve Purchase Orders and Subcontracts for proper coding
    • Interface with Accounting to review project costs, contingencies, and support audits
  • Performance Measurement & Analysis
    • Develop and maintain an earned value management system (EVMS)
    • Input and validate progress measurement and maintain progress curves
    • Analyze schedule performance using Critical Path Method (CPM) techniques
    • Perform material takeoffs and validate quantities
    • Conduct quality checks on project controls deliverables
  • Collaboration & Governance
    • Serve as a technical point of contact for project controls and scheduling questions
    • Support Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM)
    • Consult with project teams on schedule progress and recovery strategies
    • Perform field audits to validate reporting accuracy and processes
    • Assist with project forensic analysis as needed
    • Ensure compliance with all company policies, standards, and safety requirements
Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
    , plus 3+ years of direct project controls experience
    • (Applicable experience may substitute for degree requirement)
  • Strong experience with project scheduling, cost control, and forecasting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 10-hour Safety Certification
Preferred
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6
  • Background supporting engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects
