Work Locations:
Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh, Cranberry, or Canonsburg/Southpointe), West Virginia (Bridgeport or Charleston), or Virginia (Richmond or Warrenton). Option to work remotely while based out of one of these office locations. The position will require field travel in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia, with up to 50% travel.
- Perform geotechnical engineering assignments for a variety of facilities, including foundations for transmission lines, buildings, roadways, bridges, retaining walls, dams, pipelines, compressor stations, landfills, impoundments, and the development of monitoring, laboratory testing, and design programs.
- Develop geotechnical designs such topics as slope stability, embankment design, landslide stabilization, field instrumentation, soil reinforcement, ground improvement, sheet piles, shallow and deep foundations, etc.
- Provide geotechnical investigation and construction support services – test boring monitoring, site reconnaissance, construction monitoring, and inspection of foundations and retaining structures, including field testing of soils.
- Prepare engineering proposals, budgets, schedules, calculations, specifications, and reports.
- Participate in travel to project sites, generally located in the Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia areas (up to 50% travel).
- Traverse steep terrain and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Develop broad knowledge and skills in a specific practice area.
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform tasks or sequences of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features.
- Collaboratively use judgment to determine adaptations in methods for nonroutine aspects of assignments.
- Apply principles of probability and statistics to determine risk relevant to engineering.
- 6+ years
- B.S. or M.S. Engineering
- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and obtained engineer‑in‑training (EIT) or engineering‑intern (EI) certification
- Perform moderate design tasks.
- Prepare portions of plans, specifications, and other project documents.
- Conduct research and field investigation.
- Work as part of a team and coordinate work with others.
- Assist in determining schedule and budget requirements.
- Receive instruction on specific objectives.
- Receive direction on unconventional and/or complex problems and possible solutions.
- Receive thorough expectativas of completed work for developmental professional judgment.
- Receive mentorship from a licensed engineer typically in their specialty.
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
- Interact with other staff.
- Interact with clients with close oversight.
- Interact closely with Project Managers and various Department Managerial Staff, especially with client communications.
- Interact with clients fet project meetings.
Education: Bachelors or better in Engineering or related field.
Experience: 6 years of related engineering experience.
Licenses &
Certifications:
EI (pass FE exam and obtain EIT/EI certification).
Preferred: Driver's License.
