Overview
The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking an enthusiastic, passionate education professional to serve as an Adult English Learning Teacher for a dynamic group of adult learners in our community-based English language program. We offer one 12-week session in the Spring, and one 12-week session in the Fall. Classes have a two-hour duration and will take place twice a week. This part-time position starts at $30 per hour.
Responsibilities- Developing and delivering relevant lesson plans tailored to adult learners at beginner to intermediate levels.
- Ensuring academic and social growth of students in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Identifying individual student needs and creating original instructional plans to address them.
- Monitoring student progress and making instructional adjustments as needed.
- Creating a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment that encourages participation and confidence-building.
- Supporting students in applying English skills to real-world situations, such as work and daily interactions.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- At least three years of related experience; experience teaching adults preferred.
- Teaching certification is highly desirable but not required.
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and technological skills.
- Strong relationship-building, mentoring, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Cultural sensitivity and a passion for working with diverse populations.
- Commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and service to the YMCA's mission.
