An assistant football coach plays a crucial role in supporting the head coach and ensuring the smooth operation of the team. Their duties include developing and implementing training programs, analyzing game footage to devise strategies, and providing individualized feedback to players to enhance their skills. They also assist in player tryouts, coordinating practice sessions, and managing equipment. Additionally, an assistant coach often serves as a mentor and motivator, fostering a positive team environment and addressing any issues that arise.

Their collaborative efforts are essential in helping the team achieve its goals and maintain peak performance throughout the season.

• Assist in the management of the football program.
• Assist in preparing players for interscholastic competition through practice, teaching fundamental skills, and imparting knowledge of the rules.
• Assist in reviewing eligibility forms and submitting them to the Student Activities Director.
• Assist in collecting all health physical forms.
• Monitors student academic progress.
• Assist in the cleaning, storage, and proper care of team equipment.
• Assist in the requisitions for supplies, uniforms, and necessary equipment through the Student Activities Director.
• Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community informed and engaged with the athletic program.
• Assist in organizing pre-season meetings with parents.
• Helps prepare daily practice schedules and conducts practice sessions.
• Attends VHSL clinics as required.
• Follows county financial policies regarding the collection and receipting of funds.

• Demonstrated ability to assist in the management of the program through previous experience as a coach or player.
• Previous coaching experience, knowledge of the sport, and current understanding of coaching techniques and strategies.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes.

The stipend stated in this posting is based on this current school year's pay plan. The compensation, for the  school year, will be determined once the  school year financial plan is approved and adopted in the Spring of 2025.
