Overview
Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as a Tax Credit Allocation Officer. This role supports Virginia Housing’s Low-Income Housing Tax Credit programs by reviewing 4% and 9% LIHTC applications, conducting financial and underwriting analysis, and helping rank projects for selection. The position collaborates with stakeholders on updates to the Qualified Allocation Plan, performs subsidy layering reviews, supports pre- and post-construction compliance, and contributes to data reporting and program documentation.
The role also serves as a key point of contact for developers, nonprofits, and partners across the Commonwealth, providing strong customer service throughout the year.

ToBe Successful In This Role You Must Possess
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, real estate, land use planning, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of the Tax Credit program regulations, schedules and application information.
- A few years of professional experience performing a variety of work assignments associated with the allocation of tax credits with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret real estate documents.
- Skilled in presentations, stakeholder engagement, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Travel required within the State. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with Virginia Housing’s motor vehicle and HR policies as a condition of employment.
The ideal candidate would also have experience with LIHTC policies and procedures in Virginia. Understanding Of IRC Section 42 Preferred.
This role will report to our Innsbrook office in Glen Allen, VA.

Hiring Range: $95,000 - $128,000
A background and motor vehicle check will be performed as a condition of employment.
