Overview
Connecticut GI, a division of GI Alliance, is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to join our Glastonbury Care Center. We are the largest gastroenterology practice in Connecticut with 31 Care Centers and growing. Our employees are the foundation of our practice, and we have been named a Top Workplace 8 times. WhatYou Will Do For Us
- Providing Remarkable Patient
Experience:
room patients, obtain vital signs (blood pressure, height, and weight), and document accurately using Epic EMR. - Attention to Detail: update patient medical histories, including the medication list.
- Team Player: document patient phone calls and, under provider direction, inform patients of test results.
- Versatility: familiarity with the prior authorization process.
- Expertise: ask appropriate triage questions when speaking with patients and accurately record in Epic.
- Graduated from an Accredited MA Program (preferred).
- At least one full year of Medical Assistant experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and referring practices.
- Broad knowledge of medical terminology (1+ year of healthcare experience).
- EMR experience is ideal;
Epic experience is a plus. - Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: From $18.00 per hour, depending on experience

Education & Experience ProvisionsEducation: High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting.
Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience in a medical facility as a medical assistant; externship in a medical office is acceptable. Experience in a Gastroenterology practice is preferred.
Requirements For Level I Status- Entry level (1-4 years experience) with the need for additional supervision.
- Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.
- Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems.
- Skill in performing medical assistance tasks.
- Skill in written and verbal communications.
- Ability to educate patients and families effectively.
- Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care practices and procedures.
- Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Demonstrate compassion and caring in interactions with others.
