Medical Assistant

Overview

Connecticut GI, a division of GI Alliance, is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to join our Glastonbury Care Center. • Providing Remarkable Patient
  
  Experience:
  
  room patients, obtain vital signs (blood pressure, height, and weight), and document accurately using Epic EMR.
• Attention to Detail: update patient medical histories, including the medication list.
• Team Player: document patient phone calls and, under provider direction, inform patients of test results.
• Versatility: familiarity with the prior authorization process.
• Expertise: ask appropriate triage questions when speaking with patients and accurately record in Epic.

• Graduated from an Accredited MA Program (preferred).
• At least one full year of Medical Assistant experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and referring practices.
• Broad knowledge of medical terminology (1+ year of healthcare experience).
• EMR experience is ideal;
  Epic experience is a plus.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $18.00 per hour, depending on experience

• Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

• EMR systems: 1 year (Required)

Work Location: In person

Education: High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting.

Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience in a medical facility as a medical assistant; externship in a medical office is acceptable. Experience in a Gastroenterology practice is preferred.

• Entry level (1-4 years experience) with the need for additional supervision.
• Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.

• Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems.
• Skill in performing medical assistance tasks.
• Skill in written and verbal communications.
• Ability to educate patients and families effectively.
• Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care practices and procedures.
• Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.

• Demonstrate compassion and caring in interactions with others.
