Buyer, Engineering

The Buyer will perform purchasing functions, including initiating competitive requests for quotations, issuing purchase orders, and managing delivery of orders in accordance with project/program builds. The applicant must be able to work with suppliers and internal customers, such as support engineers, quality, and project planners.

• Establish, evaluate, and select suppliers to develop a qualified supplier base and sustain supplier relationships.
• Review requests for procurement, and issue related RFQs and subsequent POs.
• Independently perform complete analyses of customer requirements and supplier input to obtain the best possible procurement packages relative to cost, schedule, and quantity.
• Negotiate commercial terms and conditions with suppliers and act as an intermediary between internal customers and suppliers.
• Drive process improvements with internal customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Reduce quality-related setbacks and compel improved performance from suppliers.
• Monitor and maintain all open purchase orders, communicating status to internal customers.
• Manage suppliers to verify compliance with purchase order requirements.
• Address and solve procurement issues as they arise.
• Support cost reduction tasks.

• Experience in procurement, purchasing, and procurement analysis.
• 5+ years of experience with SAP.
• Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of directly relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience supporting cross-functional teams.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Understanding of supply chain and ERP systems.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (20‑40%) to visit suppliers.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $41.00/hr.
