Senior Environmental Instrumentation/Compliance Professional

GEI Consultants is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Instrumentation / Compliance Professional to provide project management, client development, and staff coordination as part of our active environmental practice in Glastonbury, Connecticut. The successful candidate will be experienced in environmental instrumentation systems including air and water quality monitoring, vibration and noise monitoring, and groundwater monitoring and have experience in overall environmental compliance.

In service of project success and client satisfaction, this individual will author and review environmental reports, provide client and regulatory guidance, mentor staff, resolve environmental challenges on a variety of projects, and serve as project and client manager in addition to supporting other project managers. The selected candidate will serve as a member of our project management team with direct responsibility for strategically growing our business and coordinating with instrumentation and environmental management/compliance staff throughout GEI.

Responsibilities
  • Manage projects and direct the project activities of engineers and scientists.
  • Prepare and review work plans and technical reports.
  • Interact directly with clients and agency representatives.
  • Assist clients with problem-solving, sometimes requiring immediate attention.
  • Develop proposals and support business development activities.
  • Install, maintain, and monitor automated remote sensors including air monitoring stations, vibrating wire piezometers, observation wells, seismographs, and noise monitoring systems.
  • Actively participate in industry organizations and networking events to maintain industry relationships. Participate in technical committees and author papers for industry events.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, geology, or similar science.
  • 15+ years of relevant professional experience in environmental consulting.
  • Seller/Doer mentality and experience.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation equipment and using online instrumentation visualization tools like Mission

    OS.
  • Excellent communication and technical report writing skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, and highly organized
  • Able to travel to job locations as needed and physical ability to perform field work in summer and winter conditions.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with environmental regulations including CT DEEP regulations and LEP Programs and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).
  • HAZWOPER training.
  • Experience with soldering, wiring, electrical assembly, cabling, and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Experience using SQL, python, XML, or other programming languages.
  • Experience in geotechnical and/or structural instrumentation.
