• Provide meals and beverages to residents in the dining room and be responsible for the total resident experience.
• Set up and clean up the dining room for meal service and related duties.
• Take attendance at meals if assigned.
• Offer residents beverages prior to meals and ensure condiments are available for the current meal.
• Prepare the dining room for meal service and participate in pre-service meetings and tastings.
• Be knowledgeable of menu items, daily specials, and special diet accommodations.
• Ensure food order accuracy before serving and serve meals in courses when possible.
• Ensure resident satisfaction with meal presentation and assist with any needs or alternatives.
• Communicate resident concerns to the kitchen and remain available during meal service for assistance.
• Follow community safety, food sanitation, and facility policies and procedures.
• Wear the appropriate uniform and nametag and maintain hygiene standards.
• Assist in cleaning and maintaining the dining environment, including tidying tables and chairs as needed.
• Must be able to lift a 25-pound tray overhead and work to keep the dining area clean and welcoming.

• Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Must be able to work well with peers in a congenial environment and adhere to the Resident Bill of Rights.
• Must adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and follow the terms of employment as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
• In exigent circumstances, the employee may be subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, temporary staffing shortages).
• Must maintain the highest standards in caring for residents and their families.

• Annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
• Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination required with exceptions for medical and religious accommodations.
• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday and lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet, with ability to push/pull/move over distances as needed.
• Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional demands of the position and relate to ill or elderly residents.
• Medical and physical examination as required by facility policies.
