Title: Medical Delivery Driver

Location: Field based from our depot at Glasgow

Job type: Full Time, Permanent

  • Week 2: Wednesday‑Sunday (days off Monday and Tuesday)
  • Week 3: Monday‑Wednesday (days off Thursday and Friday) working Saturday and Sunday
Overview

Working as part of the northern team, you will deliver and collect rental equipment to all hospital sites for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and NHS Lothian sites in Edinburgh, as well as support surrounding areas. Some days may start and finish at the local depot in Glasgow, while others may begin directly at hospital sites.

You will be responsible for delivering equipment directly to wards and collecting any equipment no longer required. The majority of the equipment you will handle are pressure‑relieving mattresses that are inflated on hospital beds, then deflated, rolled up, and bagged for collection. Using an iPad and iPhone, you will log all serial numbers as equipment goes in and out of the hospital—keen attention to detail is essential.

A valid driver’s licence is essential. You will load your van at the depot and work from the van for the rest of the day, attending to any orders that come through. As all installation requests need to be delivered within four hours, a methodical and practical approach is required to ensure patients receive their equipment promptly. You will use the van to commute, so you must have suitable parking when at home.

The role involves lifting, so you must be able to lift bulky mattresses for extended periods. Equipment is provided to support moving the rental products around hospitals. No prior experience is needed; full training will be provided. Personality, enthusiasm, positivity, and communication skills are essential, as you will be the face of Arjo to customers and patients.

The Skills You Will Need
  • A practical approach.
  • Ability to prioritise work and amend route plans accordingly.
  • A positive, team‑oriented attitude.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Driving licence: A valid UK driver’s licence.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance:
Required (at the cost of Arjo).
  • Must be able to lift bulky mattresses for prolonged periods.
  • Availability to work outside normal hours, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and on call rota.
  • Drive a large van and hold a clean driving licence for a minimum of one year, with effective route‑planning skills.
