About the ProjectGovanhill: 100 Years of Immigration is a two-year heritage initiative which includes celebrating the hidden Gaelic history of Govanhill. Through workshops, intergenerational storytelling, contributions to a multicultural phrasebook, a local Gaelic History Group, and participation in the Govanhill International Festival & Carnival, the project will uncover, share, and preserve the Gaelic-speaking community’s contribution to the area.
The Gaelic Community Engagement Trainee will play a central role in making this work possible—strengthening community connections, collecting oral histories, and helping embed Gaelic heritage within the Govanhill Baths Archive.
Role PurposeThe Gaelic Community Engagement Trainee will support the delivery of all Gaelic elements of the project. This role focuses on engaging with Gaelic-speaking residents, assisting with community outreach, coordinating workshops and events, and contributing to the creation of culturally significant resources, including Gaelic content in the multicultural phrasebook and a new Gaelic digital archive.
This post is ideal for a Gaelic-speaking heritage practitioner, community worker, researcher, seeking hands‑on experience within a busy, inclusive community organisation.
