Start: 2026. Apprenticeship duration: 32 months, Advanced Level. Working week:
Monday to Friday, 39 hours.
Position type:
Apprenticeship (Advanced Level HGV Technician).

- Assist with repairs in accordance with Volvo standard times using special tools where appropriate.
- Participate in fault diagnosis and warranty procedures.
- Work with the parts team to ensure correct replacement parts are fitted.
- Use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness and record keeping.
- Adhere to time‑recording procedures and complete job cards accurately.
- Report all vehicle defects to the workshop supervisor.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) where required.
- Attend college courses regularly and achieve the required standards.
- Engage in any technical or development training provided.
On starting your apprenticeship, you will be provided with full equipment and tools. You will work with qualified technicians learning how to repair, service, MOT and maintain modern trucks, buses and coaches, including hybrid technology.
What we are looking for:- Enthusiastic individuals with a strong interest in heavy vehicles.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and a desire to learn.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication skills and a team‑player mentality.
- Desired qualification:
National 5 in Maths and English considered desirable.
Training: Delivered in the workplace and through block releases at the Remit Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby. 18 blocks over the 32‑month programme, combining virtual classes and on‑site days.
The employer covers accommodation, food and travel costs.
You will receive a dedicated Development Coach and support to achieve the Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3 qualification and other IMI qualifications.
