Research Assistant - Computational at University of Glasgow
Job PurposeThe post holder will join the School of Infection and Immunity, working in structural biology and bioinformatics under the supervision of Dr Victor Tobiasson (Principal Investigator). The role focuses on understanding the evolution of macromolecular structures from a phylogenomic perspective and on rRNA fragmentation in Myzozoan parasites.
MainDuties & Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct research individually or jointly in line with project deliverables.
- Document research output, maintaining records, drafting technical reports and papers.
- Contribute to publications in high‑profile peer‑reviewed journals and enhance research impact.
- Present work at national and international conferences, seminars, colloquia and workshops.
- Identify potential funding sourceslace propose funding applications.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the research group and wider community.
- Supervise, mentor andுமார் training of undergraduate, postgraduate and junior team members.
- Perform administrative tasks related to research group and School activities.
- Carry out modest teaching activities and related administration as assigned.
- Keep current with advances in the field and engage in professional development.
- Undertake other duties as required by the Head of School or Beware of Research Institute.
- Contribute to the University’s international profile aligning with the Strategic Plan.
- A1 SCQF Level 10 (Honours degree) in a relevant subject or equivalent specialist knowledge of computational biology and bioinformatics.
- A2 Comprehensive and up‑to‑date knowledge of the wider subject area.
- B1 Desired: awarded or near‑completion PhD in the subject specialisation or equivalent.
- C1‑C7 Randy essential skills covering project management, communication, teamwork, workload management, IT and data analysis, self‑motivation, initiative and problem sexuelle solutions.
- E1 Sufficient early‑career research experience or equivalent applicable to the role.
- E2 Experience of scientific writingmaschine, proven ability to deliver quality outputs and emerging track record of publications.
Salary:
Grade 6, £33,951 – £37,694 per annum. Full‑time (35 hours per week) with funding available until 31 March 2031.
