Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Neurosurgery team in Ward 66 within the Institute of Neurological Sciences at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The Department of Neurosurgery delivers pioneering procedures and care as part of the Regional Services for the West of Scotland. We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic Registered Nurses to join our team.
Shift pattern:
Monday - Sunday, Days & Nights. You will work 12-hour shifts to provide 24/7 service coverage.
Our service comprises three 22-bedded wards providing both emergency and elective neurosurgical and spinal care as part of the Neuroscience Service for the West of Scotland. All staff will be supported by our dedicated Clinical Nurse Educator for Neurosciences and will undertake an in-house competency-based training framework, complemented by university-accredited courses to support professional development.
Responsibilities- Provide high-quality nursing care within a neurosurgical/spinal care setting on a 12-hour shift pattern to support 24/7 service coverage.
- Work as part of the Neurosurgery team to deliver patient-centred care and uphold service standards.
- Engage in competency-based training and professional development opportunities.
- Applicants must be Registered Nurses.
- Experience in neurosurgical nursing is desirable but not essential.
- Demonstrate a commitment to patient-centred care, continuous professional development, and an understanding of the service and patient needs or a willingness to learn and develop these skills.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part-time hours will be reduced pro-rata, with a corresponding increase in hourly rate so pay is not affected.
