The Hospital Engagement Co-ordinator at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity plays an important role in helping children, families and hospital staff to have supportive and meaningful experiences at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow and all associated sites.

This role focuses on creating positive experiences for hospital staff, patients and families. You will plan, co‑ordinate and deliver a range of engagement activity, including events, activities and conferences, that help build strong connections across the hospital community and enhance everyday experiences within the hospital.

Working closely with the Charity Impact Team and NHS colleagues, you will help create special moments for young patients, their families and NHS heroes supported by the charity. The ideal candidate will bring strong organisational and event coordination skills, alongside creativity, flexibility and the ability to work well with a wide range of people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the Charity Impact Team to create a calendar of Awareness Days marked at the RHC and all other associate sites. Coordinate and collaborate with the relevant NHS teams to help deliver these events on time and within budget.
  • To organise and deliver staff appreciation events, including International Nurses Day celebrations and special occasions such as Christmas or significant NHS milestones (e.g., NHS 75th).
  • Coordinate the distribution of staff gifts during festive seasons and other relevant occasions.
  • Plan and deliver department‑specific parties and family days, including events like Tracheostomy Family Day, Wee Scottish Livers Annual Parties.
  • Support the Head of Volunteering & Hospital Events to deliver larger annual condition specific Family Days – while working closely with hospital staff and families to create memorable and supportive experiences.
  • Facilitate the registration process and venue liaison for smaller scale conferences for NHS Teams to ensure seamless coordination of conference logistics.
  • Alongside the Head of Volunteering & Hospital Events contribute to the planning and execution of larger scale conferences, ensuring a smooth and successful event while collaborating with internal and external partners to enhance the impact of conferences.
  • Support the Charity Impact Team with Play & Events activities as and when required.
  • To work alongside the Volunteer Team to ensure that all large‑scale events and activities, are appropriately resourced by volunteers.
  • Provide support and cover to the GCHC Charity Hub as and when required to ensure the effective, safe and profitable daily operations.
  • Work with the Head of Volunteering & Hospital Events to develop and implement evaluation metrics for engagement events and activities. Collect feedback from participants and stakeholders to continuously improve future initiatives.

  • To work with all income generating staff within the Charity to understand & promote the fundraising priorities and propositions on offer.
  • Any other relevant duties as may be required by the Head of Volunteering & Hospital Events.
Who we’re looking for

Essential Criteria
  • Experience of organising events, preferably for children and young people.
  • Experience of working with children and young people.
  • Excellent communication & time management skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised & willingness to work flexibly as required.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends. Evening and weekend work is essential, especially during key event periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects for the delivery of event (banners, promotional materials, props and donation items).
