Working Schedule
: 37 hours a week. First 6 months full time at college (5 days). After completion, 4 days a week at Thales (Mon‑Thu, 9.25 hours a week).

Responsibilities
  • Work to develop a wide range of skills over a 4 year programme.
  • Support industry work cells to develop, assemble and test cutting edge technology and maintain high‑end technology.
  • Develop optical, mechanical and electrical assembly and testing skills.
  • Enhance essential soft skills such as communication and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with experienced technicians and engineers to achieve your full potential.
Qualifications
  • 2 Highers in English and Maths at a level B or above.
  • 5 National 5s including English, Maths and a Science subject at Grade C or above.
  • Live and work in Scotland for the duration of the programme.
  • Permanent right to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Must be able to undergo government security clearance at BPSS Level and obtain Security Clearance (SC) in line with UKSV requirements.

Application Process and Timeline

Closing date: 11.59pm Thursday 12 February 2026. Roles may close earlier, so apply as soon as possible.

Assessment centres for shortlisted candidates will be held between February and May 2026. Induction week for all graduates and apprentices will take place from Monday 7 September to Friday 11 September 2026.

This role requires a sole British National from birth and to achieve Security Clearance (SC) without caveats. If you do not currently hold SC, you must obtain it before commencing employment. Provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, and other information required by the UKSV process.
