Head of Commercial; PR

Salary: £80,000 – £95,000 + car + 20% bonus

We are supporting the search for an experienced Head of Commercial to join a high-profile, regulated programme within a complex defence business. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the commercial delivery of a high-value, long-term government contract. The position offers significant exposure to executive stakeholders and the opportunity to play a key role in shaping commercial strategy within a mission‑critical environment.

• Lead the commercial oversight of a large, complex single‑source contract within a regulated environment
• Provide governance and strategic direction across multiple commercial work streams
• Act as the escalation point for high‑risk and complex contractual matters
• Lead negotiations with customers on pricing, scope and contractual terms
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships at senior levels
• Oversee contract change management, including evidence gathering and negotiation of variations
• Shape commercial strategy, pricing models and risk frameworks
• Provide commercial input into financial reporting and P&L performance
• Ensure contractual compliance and regulatory alignment
• Lead and develop a commercial team, driving performance and capability
• Deputise at senior leadership level when required

We are looking for a commercially astute leader with:

• Significant experience managing large and complex contracts within a regulated or government environment
• Strong knowledge of commercial governance, contract change and risk management
• Experience operating within both single‑source and competitive procurement frameworks
• Demonstrable success leading and developing commercial teams
• Confidence negotiating independently at senior stakeholder level
• Degree‑level education (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline such as Business, Law or similar
• Working knowledge of relevant government contracting regulations

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance.

This is a hybrid role requiring regular on‑site presence in the West of Scotland and occasional UK travel.
