new role

The primary role of the Commercial Director is to provide operational commercial support to the Regional Managing Director, leading the commercial team within the regional business to provide assurance that the business objectives are being met while continuously assessing and risk and opportunity.

About the role
  • Where directed by the RMD, the Commercial Director will assist and advise on legal and contractual matters during preconstruction.
  • Production of monthly financial results, including forecasting year‑end financial position.
  • Develop and present commercial strategies and proposals.
  • Carry out internal audits and cost/value investigations as required on projects that display concerns in respect of programme slippage and report findings.
  • Ensure that all Commercial policies and procedures are being implemented diligently within the business and raise any non‑conformances found with the RMD to allow corrective action. Monitor that all projects have actual v planned cashflows, that variations and final accounts processes are diligently applied. This will include visiting projects on a regular basis to undertake assurance checks.
  • To act professionally to protect and maintain the good standing of the Company within the industry and its clients.
  • Ensuring that the businesses maintain a focus in the delivery of Robertson Group Strategic Objectives and the embedment of Group Strategies, and they are measured via the Key Performance Indicators.
  • Ensuring that the businesses negotiate and utilise a robust set of main and sub‑contract provisions in each project to minimise risk.
  • Continually review the suitability of the supply chain being used by the Business, ensure compliance with Group minimum standards and report on any issues with regard to commercial and contractual performance on projects.
  • Governance & Risk – Ensure that governance and risk management is robust and must review and strengthen and enhance our processes and risk management in all areas.
  • Constantly monitor the business project risk, opportunity, recovery, cashflows and expenditure and advise the RMD of any change to budget/forecasted outcome.
  • Attend Regional Board meetings.
About you
  • Relevant Quantity Surveying degree
  • Relevant Professional qualification (preferred)
  • Senior level professional commercial experience.
  • Wide experience of the construction marketplace.
  • An excellent knowledge of procurement processes.
  • Experience in delivering targets through the effective appointment and management of all Construction
