Pre-Construction Project Manager Glasgow Permanent Who are MCR
MCR is a successful and entrepreneurial property development and investment company operating across the UK, with an active pipeline in excess of 9,000 residential units. From offices in Manchester, London, Birmingham, and Edinburgh, MCR is heavily involved in the acquisition, promotion, and delivery of high-quality residential and commercial developments nationwide.
A defining feature of MCR’s delivery model is the use of an in-house contracting arm for all major projects, allowing the business to retain full control over quality, programme, and cost. As a result of continued growth and an expanding development pipeline, the contracting division is now seeking capable and experienced Project Managers at various levels to support the delivery of a diverse range of projects.
Aboutthe role
MCR has recently acquired a large building in central Glasgow that will undergo a significant refurbishment and upgrade. We are therefore seeking a Project Manager with the experience and capability to oversee the full delivery of this scheme, managing both MCR’s own direct labour force and appointed subcontractors. The project is anticipated to run for approximately 18 to 24 months, after which the successful candidate will have the opportunity to move onto further projects across Scotland.
These will include both new-build developments and refurbishment schemes, offering long‑term progression and variety for the right individual.
The role will involve full end‑to‑end project management responsibility, from initial inception and planning through to completion and handover. You will be accountable for achieving key performance targets, ensuring value for money, and maintaining full compliance with health and safety regulations at all times. A core aspect of the position will be the effective, efficient, and consistent communication of information, alongside the active monitoring and control of budgets, programmes, and overall project performance.
Aboutyou
The successful candidate will be expected to have prior experience in preparing or assisting with basic tender packages, managing tender processes, and demonstrating strong commercial awareness throughout procurement and delivery. You will be responsible for overseeing contract administration, monitoring valuations, and managing cost control in line with agreed budgets. The role will also require direct engagement with local authorities and statutory bodies, coordinating inspections and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
You will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of site staff and subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. Strong leadership, organisation, and the ability to manage multiple work streams will be essential to success in this role.
Applicants must be IT literate, with strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate and well‑structured project records. A valid CSCS card is required, along with relevant construction‑related qualifications and a full UK driving licence. Candidates should have a minimum of ten years’ recent UK‑based experience in a project management role, with demonstrable experience delivering complex refurbishment or construction projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing and dynamic business that offers long‑term career development, exposure to a wide range of projects, and the chance to play a key role in shaping high‑profile developments across Scotland.
