With over 40 operational windfarms, we manage all of our sites through our world leading Control Centre at Whitelee Windfarm, near Glasgow.

As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing and controlling one of the Scottish Power Renewables Offshore project development activities within the UK, ensuring delivery of agreed milestones.

This role encompasses all aspects of developing sites from scoping, through to project development, environmental impact assessment and planning consents/permits including all necessary financial approvals and budgetary control. This includes both offshore windfarm and coordination with grid connection Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) developments.

You will be the focal point in the team for Onshore Consent Compliance and Land for the East Anglia Three Project, providing support to the Project and Engineering packages in relation to onshore consent compliance matters, management of land agreements and obligations and co‑ordinating further technical support from the rest of the team as required.

Responsibilities

Developing projects to secure consents, manage land agreements and ongoing consents compliance, including compliance with land obligations to ensure delivery of Scottish Power Renewables objectives, you will plan and manage the resources required to deliver the agreed developments to meet operational needs.

Managing and developing staff, you will liaise with cross functional teams to facilitate decisions, resolving escalated portfolio/project risks and issues.

Driving project performance to ensure quality and cost targets are being met, you will also be required to create and manage mechanisms which ensures knowledge and best practice is shared between projects.

Establishing strong relationships with all major stakeholders including Regulators, Planning Authorities, Governments, Consultees, Communities, Landowners, Land Agents, internal Legal Advisors, Sub Consultants and Suppliers, you will ensure external Consultants and Suppliers deliver to agreed specifications, programmes and costs.

Managing effective procurement processes, you will ensure Project budget controls are effectively managed whilst managing necessary processes and controls, ensuring the effective development of the project to meet business planning and contractual requirements.

Flexibility is required to travel regularly to additional SP Renewables Offices and site locations throughout the UK.

What you’ll bring

With a proven delivery track record of managing large scale development projects, you will hold a professional qualification in a development related discipline (eg. Planning, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Land Management, Environmental Management).

Experienced within a project/development management environment, ideally in a commercially focused Renewables business with Offshore development and consenting experience, you will possess experience in managing a skilled team with the ability to motivate and develop direct reports.

Technically and commercially aware of large-scale Energy/ Engineering projects, you will be able to work to tight deadlines and within a highly pressured environment.

Influencing, negotiating and communication skills are required, with an ability to collaborative and develop strong working relationships with partner companies.
