** Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
** Scottish Water looks after 300 reservoirs – essential for drinking water, and cherished natural spaces for communities and visitors. We’re committed to responsible public access, supporting tourism, and connecting people with their environment.

We’re looking for two Visitor Management Rangers (18-month fixed term) to join our Corporate Affairs team from April 2026. You’ll help deliver visitor management plans with a focus at Mugdock and Craigmaddie Reservoirs in Milngavie, and other locations in West and Central Scotland.
** What you’ll do
** You’ll welcome visitors, patrol key routes, and provide guidance on responsible behaviour. You’ll raise awareness of water risks and why reservoirs differ from other bodies of water.

Looking after the sites, you’ll coordinate volunteer work like litter picking and engage with local community groups. You’ll organise and deliver events such as guided walks and talks.

Flexibility and resourcefulness are key, along with a strong focus on health and safety. You’ll conduct risk assessments, report maintenance issues, and carry out minor or emergency repairs.

You’ll also seek ways to improve site access, advising project teams on Scottish Outdoor Access Code provisions and ensuring visitor access is considered in capital projects. Additionally, you’ll help collect data to support reporting on visitor access targets.
** What you’ll need
** You’ll have experience working with the public in a customer-focused role, with strong communication skills to provide information, solve problems, and reassure visitors. A solid understanding of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and related legislation is essential.

You’ll enjoy working outdoors, covering rough terrain in all weather. Since much of the role is independent, self-motivation is key, but you should also be keen to support team goals.
** Looking out for you
** While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance. You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time.

You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community. For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), as well as life assurance.
** The not-so-small print
** This role will be a Grade 4. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £30,440. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £35,260.We operate Balanced Hybrid working at Scottish Water and we encourage people to work half their time in a Scottish Water location.

If you’re interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we’ll be accepting applications until the 25th of March 2026  operate Balanced Hybrid working at Scottish Water and we encourage people to work half their time in a Scottish Water location. Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc.
