Highways Maintenance Operative to join our NMC SW account in Polmadie, Glasgow
. This is a full‑time Permanent role, 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:00‑16:30 (3:30 finish on Friday) with occasional night shift. Competitive salary and overtime are offered.
Highways Maintenance Operatives are essential for maintaining safe and efficient roads, reducing accidents, ensuring smooth traffic flow, minimising vehicle emissions, preventing flooding and keeping roads clear during winter. Their work also includes litter picking and enhancing public spaces.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake various highway maintenance tasks, including carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance.
- Operate and maintain vehicles, including HGVs and small plant machinery, ensuring all checks and required maintenance are completed.
- Participate in winter and summer standby duties, including emergency callouts.
- Adhere to health and safety requirements, ensuring the safety of yourself and the team.
- Keep accurate records and complete all necessary paperwork, maintaining communication and liaising with Amey employees, sub‑contractors, emergency services, police, clients and customers.
- Experience in roads and/or street works.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Demonstrated awareness of Health and Safety regulations, always ensuring compliance.
- Be self‑motivated and able to work collaboratively within a team.
- Ideally, previous winter maintenance experience in a similar role.
It would be preferred if you have an HGV licence for this position; however, it is not essential.
