Trainee Employment Solicitor Glasgow
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Employment Solicitor to join our Legal team in Glasgow, starting in September 2026 on a two-year fixed-term contract, with a salary set at the Law Society recommended trainee rate plus 5%.

Purpose of the RoleWork Nest is seeking to recruit a Trainee Employment Solicitor to join our Employment Law team in September 2026. The position will be based in our Glasgow office, with occasional travel between the offices being a requirement of the role. Working with a diverse range of clients of all shapes and sizes throughout the UK, your role as Trainee Employment Solicitor will be to advise and represent our clients dealing with anything from straightforward queries to complex, high-value employment law issues. The role involves a high degree of autonomy and client contact. You may also have the opportunity to represent clients at employment tribunal hearings throughout the UK.

The role will be for an initial two-year fixed term contract with an opportunity for those who thrive in the role to then remain with Work Nest in a permanent position.
Core areas of work and accountabilities- To draft, using template documents and following the instructions of the individual adviser, handbooks and a range of letters and documents for clients.
- To assist colleagues in the preparation of ET cases.
- To assist colleagues by researching legal points.
- In due course, to provide basic telephone and email advice direct to clients on basic employment law queries, subject to suitable supervision.
- To make sure all advice to clients is timely, efficient, accurate, practical, and commercial.
- To adhere to Work Nest’s requirements and relevant professional standards in dealings with clients.
- To undertake conscientiously all training to ensure that learning and development needs are met.
- To support the team as directed enabling them to provide high quality advice and legally compliant documentation to clients to ensure we provide the best fixed fee legal & ER advisory service in the UK.
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the various aspects of employment law and will have achieved at least a 2:1 LLB Honours degree. The candidate will also have successfully completed or be on track to complete the Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice by September 2026. The candidate should have undertaken some legal work experience: employment law experience is desirable but not essential.

This role attracts a salary equivalent to Law Society of Scotland recommended trainee rates + 5% as well as a company benefits package.
