Salary: £46,991 - £51,370

The Council is seeking to recruit a solicitor to join the in-house Legal team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will primarily work as part of the property and contracts team to undertake a range of legal work including research, provision of advice and the negotiation and conclusion of legal contracts on behalf of the Council with a focus on planning, housing, estates and roads.
The successful candidate would also be expected to sit occasionally as legal adviser on the Planning Committee and Local Review Body.
- Undertake research and provide high-quality, practical and timely legal advice and guidance in a professional manner.
- Negotiate and conclude legal contracts on behalf of the Council, with a focus on planning, housing, estates and roads.
- Work as part of the property and contracts team to manage a broad personal caseload and ensure proper prioritisation of work.
- Occasionally act as legal adviser to the Planning Committee and Local Review Body.
- Current Law Society of Scotland practising certificate.
- Ability to research and deliver high quality, practical and timely legal advice and guidance.
- Experience in contract matters is essential.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships with team members, officers, elected members and the public.
