Your Role at IBM

We are looking for someone to join our team as a Project Manager. You will work 4 days a week at IBM and attend 1 day a week at university for an IT Management for Business graduate apprenticeship.

Responsibilities
  • Project planning and coordination (developing & maintaining project plans, schedules & resource allocation to ensure successful project delivery).
  • Developing and managing project budgets, including tracking expenses and forecasting costs.
  • Analysing and reporting on project financial performance, including tracking revenue, expenses, and gross profit.
  • Data analysis and reporting (developing and maintaining project dashboards and reports to track progress, identify trends, and inform decision‑making).
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including clients, team members, and external partners.
  • Coordinating and managing project documentation (including project charters, scope statements, and status reports).
  • Risk and issue management (identifying and mitigating project risks, issues, and dependencies to minimise impact on project timelines and budgets).
  • Administrative, meeting and event support (including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes and facilitating project meetings, workshops and retrospectives).
  • Coordination with procurement teams to ensure timely and cost‑effective procurement of project resources and materials.
  • Assistance in developing and maintaining commercial relationships with external partners and suppliers.
  • Knowledge management (assisting in maintaining project knowledge and lessons learned to ensure continuous improvement and best practice sharing).
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements.
Apprentice Development

As an IT Management for Business graduate apprentice, you will build a career with valuable business and IT skills. You will develop experience and knowledge in project management, problem‑solving, and business operations, including technology, business, software project & delivery management, and personal & interpersonal skills.

There is an opportunity to experience university life and engage in interactive learning sessions during days at university.

On the IBM Apprenticeship programme you will work in an innovative, creative, and exciting environment. Apprenticeships span across different business units and offer opportunities for networking, mentoring, learning, and giving back. You will have two managers — a task manager and an early‑professional manager who will support you throughout the apprenticeship.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • All apprenticeships are office‑based (if not at a client site) for a minimum of 3 days a week; these are NOT remote roles. You need to live within commuting distance to IBM Glasgow.
  • You must be mobile as all apprenticeship roles will be client‑focused, potentially requiring extensive travel and away days during the week.
