Senior Cyber Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Cyber Engineer to take a pivotal leadership role in shaping and advancing our Operational Technology (OT) cyber security capability. You’ll own the strategic direction of our OT cyber posture, defining how we design and deliver secure, resilient solutions that protect our clients and create measurable value.

Responsibilities
  • Define and continuously evolve the company’s OT cyber security offering and go-to-market strategy.
  • Establish technology partner relationships and frameworks that enhance delivery capability and innovation.
  • Align OT security strategy with overall business objectives, regulatory requirements and client expectations.
  • Lead the definition of system acceptance and testing approaches (FAT, SAT, UAT).
  • Manage work allocation and resourcing within the team to ensure delivery commitments are met.
  • Manage team personnel, carrying out performance reviews, 1:1s and supporting L&D objectives.
  • Lead the design, implementation and operation of the Cyber Threat Intelligence and Vulnerability Management functions.
  • Analyse and anticipate the evolving threat landscape across OT and IT environments, ensuring proactive risk mitigation.
  • Research and evaluate IoCs, TTPs and other threat data to inform detection and response.
  • Recommend and implement appropriate Threat Intelligence Platforms (TIPs) and toolkits.
  • Develop and maintain technical control matrices, industrial control frameworks and architectural controls consistent with NIST, IEC 62443, ISO 27001.
  • Support and guide asset owners and project teams in implementing, monitoring and maintaining effective technical controls.
  • Ensure all control implementations align with organisational risk treatment plans and compliance obligations.
  • Provide expert input into audits, design reviews and change advisory processes.
  • Manage timelines across multiple work streams ensuring customer commitments are delivered on time.
  • Own departmental KPIs, reporting and tactics to ensure objectives are met.
  • Lead and facilitate threat intelligence and vulnerability management review meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Represent Cyber Security at technical and executive governance forums.
  • Translate complex technical risk into clear, actionable communication.
  • Coach, mentor and develop security capability across teams, driving a culture of security awareness.
  • Continuously develop and enhance the Group Cyber Threat Intelligence Framework and associated documentation.
  • Provide strong technical oversight to ensure consistency, quality and best practice in security engineering.
  • Track and report on metrics, control effectiveness and overall cyber maturity progress.
  • Lead recruitment with headcount justification, recruitment approval, job advertisements, CV sift, interviews and onboarding activities.
  • Mentor internal peers within the team to develop their domain expertise.
Requirements Experience and Knowledge
  • 7+ years in Cyber Security Engineering, including OT and IT environments.
  • Strong understanding of industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA networks and associated protocols.
  • Demonstrable expertise in threat intelligence, vulnerability management and security architecture.
  • Familiarity with frameworks and standards such as NIST CSF, IEC 62443, ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK, CIS Controls.
  • Practical experience implementing and managing security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners.
  • Proven track record delivering complex cyber security solutions and services.
  • Eligibility for SC clearance vetting.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Industrial Control Systems or related discipline.
  • Experience in energy, utilities or critical national infrastructure sectors.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g. NIS Directive, UK Cyber Assessment Framework).
