Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: People Co-ordinator - Recruitment (Fixed term up to 12 months)

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

At Scottish Water we are on a mission to improve the way that we recruit. We fill hundreds of internal and external vacancies every year, and provide support and advice to managers on how to hire well, and how to make sure their recruitment activity runs smoothly.

To cover for a period of Maternity leave, we have an opportunity for a People Coordinator to join our friendly in‑house Recruitment team and help us on our journey to make the recruitment experience easier and faster for both managers and candidates.

As part of People Services, we work incredibly closely with our colleagues in the wider team. There is an expectation that you will be happy to support wider HR admin related tasks and processes.

What you’ll do

We’ll assign you to support internal client groups and you’ll become their first point of contact for all recruitment related queries. You’ll support them with guidance on position management, raising job requisitions, help them write friendly job adverts, and post their vacancies internally and externally. You’ll also help with shortlisting, arranging interviews, and processing job offers.

Our candidates tell us that the two things they really care about when applying for a new job are Feedback and Speed
. So you’ll be their champion on both counts. That means making sure that our hiring managers move quickly and make their recruitment activity a priority. And it means keeping candidates informed at every stage of the process – including making sure they get timely feedback after an interview.

What you’ll need

You’ll need to be an organised, systems‑savvy administrator with the ability to manage a high volume of work.

You will pride yourself on providing a great service to hiring managers and candidates. That means being friendly, responsive, able to solve problems, and an unapologetic advocate for transparent, speedy and empathetic hiring.

A HR and / or Recruitment background is essential. It’s important that you have a genuine interest in how organisations attract and hire people, and the ability to put yourself in the shoes of job seekers.

We use a system called Workday to manage our vacancies. If you’ve used this (or a similar HRIS/ATS) before, that would be really helpful.

Finally, you’ll be someone who likes seeing opportunities for improvements. As a new member of the team you’ll be a fresh pair of eyes and ears and we value your insight!

Looking out for you

While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work‑life balance.

You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays), and the opportunity to buy up to five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family‑friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. As for the everyday, we embrace flexible working.

For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know‑what‑you’ll‑get‑when‑you‑retire’ kind), as well as life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The not‑so‑small print

This role is being advertised to cover for a period of Maternity leave.

This role will be a Grade 3. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £28,830. Performance‑driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £32,850.

The location for this role is flexible within Scotland. The team meet in person monthly at the Bridge.

We operate Balanced Hybrid working at Scottish Water and we encourage people to work half their time in a Scottish Water location.

If you’re interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we’ll be accepting applications until midnight on the 13th March.

We will continuously review applications whilst the advert is live and expect to progress to interviews quickly. You will be given ample time to prepare and we kindly ask for…
