NHS GG&C Pharmacy Team are recruiting Pharmacy Support Workers (Modern Apprenticeship). This is a fantastic opportunity to ‘earn while you learn’ and become a highly trained Pharmacy Support Worker.
Successful candidates will undertake a comprehensive one year training programme that includes completing an SCQF level 6 qualification in Pharmacy Services.
You will study for your qualification and have on the job training in the workplace with an assigned educational mentor who will support your learning and development throughout the training period. You may need to study in your own time so you will need to be organised and self‑motivated with a desire to succeed. You will work alongside a dedicated team of Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Support Workers and Pharmacists to gain experience in all aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities- Work in partnership in multidisciplinary teams comprising consultants, GPs, nurses and nurse practitioners, allied health professionals, social care staff, care home staff, healthcare assistances and administrative staff.
- Be a point of contact for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers, taking messages and triaging any prescribing and medicines related enquiries and information to the most appropriate member of staff.
- Use GP Practice electronic patient electronic record systems e.g. Vison, Emis, STU, drug alerts to identify specific patients, patient groups and to generate data for reports. Collect and collate patient related prescribing and clinical data.
- Under the direction of pharmacists/pharmacy technicians and working to standard operating procedures make changes to patients’ repeat prescription records to facilitate safe, evidence based, rational and cost-effective prescribing. The post-holder will be directed to make specific changes e.g. inactivating one medicine and replacing it with another.
- Carry out all duties and responsibilities professionally and in line with statutory, legal and ethical obligations.
- A good standard of general education with qualifications in three subjects including Maths & English (English at National 4 level or equivalent).
- Good communication skills – verbal & written
- Good numeracy skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Experience of using Microsoft Office Programmes (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint), e‑mail, ability to use and search internet.
- Good concentration and prioritisation skills i.e. ability to get tasks complete on time
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
- Flexible and adaptable in an ever‑changing healthcare environment

Modern Apprenticeships are only open to applicants who will be aged 16 to 24 years (or 16 to 29 years for Disabled Applicants or applicants who are care experienced

- You will be registered with Skills Development Scotland as a Modern Apprentice

Modern Apprentice Salary:
Starting salary: £25,694 per annum
- Band 2 - £25,694 - £27,900
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be supported into permanent employment in a Band 2 post.
