Job Description
An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability (NRS) for a Trading Standards Officer to join our Environmental Health and Trading Standards team on a permanent basis. NRS brings together a diverse range of Glasgow City Council operational, technical and development services that focus on delivering essential city services. Working within the Trading Standards service, you will work both independently and as part of a wider team to contribute to the delivery of a high quality regulatory service within Glasgow. The post may include evening and weekend working in order to cover events that fall outside standard work pattern arrangements, which would include a non standard payment.
This is a challenging and rewarding role in a busy local authority environment. You will have the opportunity to contribute to investigations, inspections, enforcement activities, and consumer/business advice, helping protect Glasgow's communities and ensuring businesses operate within the law.
Requirements:
- Good communication skills, ability to interpret and apply legislation, sound investigative abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and a working knowledge of the role of a Trading Standards Officer within a local authority setting.
- A Diploma in Trading Standards or equivalent is an essential requirement.
- A current driving licence is desirable.

Monday - Sunday, may include evening and weekends
Pay: £43,956.89 - £51,154.27 and a non standard working payment of £1,357.00
