Are you ready to lead the financial future of a fast‑growing, innovative energy consultancy?

The Organisation

Blackhall & Powis is a dynamic energy consultancy supporting renewable and infrastructure developers across the UK, with expanding projects in Europe and the Middle East. Since 2017, B & P has grown to a team of around 100 professionals across eight locations, including Glasgow, Inverness, York, Dubai, and more. Our services cover land assembly, GIS, spatial planning, and marine advisory, and we’re regulated by RICS and RTPI.

With revenues of £7.4m and ambitious plans to hit £40m within the next decade, we are transitioning into a multi‑entity group aiming for sustainable growth. We pride ourselves on a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture that values technical excellence, pace, and independence.

  • Leading energy and infrastructure consultancy in the UK with international growth.
  • A well‑established, ambitious business with clear scaling targets.
  • Culture of collaboration, innovation, and autonomy is fundamental.
  • Preparing for a major growth phase, including acquisitions and group restructuring.
  • Building a resilient, mature finance function to support long‑term scale.
The Role

Blackhall & Powis seeks its first full‑time, permanent Chief Financial Officer to shape and support its next decade of growth. Sitting within the Senior Leadership Team and reporting directly to the CEO, you will be central to defining financial strategy and building the infrastructure to enable rapid expansion. You’ll oversee all strategic finance activities, including planning, budgeting, forecasting and long‑term modelling, ensuring the company remains compliant with UK and international regulations.

You’ll also play a vital role in acquisitions, integration and investor relations as we develop a multi‑entity group.

  • Provide strategic leadership for growth, acquisitions and group structuring.
  • Enhance management reporting, KPI frameworks and financial analysis.
  • Lead due diligence, post‑merger integration and investor engagement.
  • Manage cashflow, financing and working capital arrangements, including facilities.
  • Drive systems development, ERP upgrades and financial controls aligned with RICS standards.
  • Mentor and develop the internal finance team for scalability and resilience.
  • Support long‑term planning, including tax strategy and compliance with regulations such as AML, VAT and FCA considerations.
  • Strengthen governance, risk controls and overall financial discipline.
The Ideal Candidate

You’ll be an accomplished senior finance leader with a track record of scaling businesses, ideally within a consultancy, engineering or project‑driven environment with multiple locations. Your technical competence is coupled with strategic influence – you can build a finance function that can support rapid growth and complex transactions. Your maturity and leadership style foster a collaborative, fast‑paced environment, and you’re motivated by making a tangible impact in a high‑growth organisation.

Mandatory
  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Senior finance leadership experience (CFO/FD level) in a fast‑growth SME or consultancy
  • Expertise in financial modelling, planning, forecasting and KPI development
  • Proven ability to lead strategic and operational finance teams
  • Experience with compliance, controls and financial systems enhancements
Preferred
  • Acquisition or integration experience
  • FCA regulation exposure or investor engagement background
  • Experience in engineering, infrastructure or project management sectors
  • Multi‑site operational expertise
ON OFFER

This is a rare opportunity to shape the financial foundation of a resilient, ambitious business at a pivotal moment of growth. You’ll have a strategic leadership role with significant influence over future investments, while enjoying a competitive package.

  • £115,000 base salary with executive benefits
  • Hybrid working based at Glasgow HQ with flexible travel
  • The chance to modernise and build a high‑performing finance team
  • Long‑term growth potential aligned with company performance
  • Be part of a collaborative, innovative, fast‑paced culture committed to ownership and continuous improvement
