The Modern Institute is an international art gallery representing over 50 artists with a full exhibition and art fair program. The role involves working closely with the Finance Manager and Director of Finance across all day-to-day, monthly and quarterly financial operations.

This position offers hands on exposure to a busy finance function in an internationally connected environment. Training will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate looking to take their first step into an industry finance role.

You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and accurate running of the gallery’s financial and administrative processes.

  • Managing three currency bank accounts and credit card accounts, preparing monthly reconciliations

  • Petty cash management and reconciliation
  • Assisting with artist statement preparation and ensuring accurate project allocation
  • Posting accurate financial information to our custom art database
  • Posting and reconciling credit card statements
  • Uploading monthly exchange rates and updating Sage
  • Tracking art fair budgets against actual expenditure
  • Raising invoices
  • Supporting the preparation of quarterly management accounts
  • Preparing ad hoc financial reports as required
  • Assisting with general office administration, including calls, supplies management across two sites and gallery assistant duty as and when required.
Qualifications
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • A clear and confident communicator
  • Enthusiastic about developing a career in finance
  • Finance experience or educational background in Finance / Accounts

Experience with Sage 50 or similar accounting software is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided. An interest in working in a creative environment is welcomed.
