Assistant Accountant

Overview

An established Glasgow-based organisation is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance function. This is a hybrid role offering the chance to work alongside a peer group of high-calibre part-qualified accountants, supporting financial and management accounting processes in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role provides broad exposure across reporting, analysis, and business partnering, making it well suited to someone looking to build strong all-round finance experience.

You will operate as part of a Finance team aligned to the organisation’s strategic objectives, supporting financial and management accounting activities in line with established processes, timetables, and policies. The role involves close collaboration with operational and commercial teams across the business.

• Assist with the preparation of management accounts, including overhead analysis and balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensure margins are completed to deadline with appropriate supporting commentary
• Support budget holder reviews to validate results, update forecasts, and provide challenge where appropriate
• Assist with the annual budget, cash forecasting, and longer-term business planning
• Build and maintain effective relationships with Operations, Sales, and other key teams
• Process daily bank transactions
• Process sales invoices accurately and in a timely manner, working closely with Sales, Credit Control, and Finance colleagues

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Clear and effective communication skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Adaptable and flexible in a changing environment

• Previous experience in a finance or accounting role
• Confidence using financial systems and Excel

Salary: Up to £34,000

Location: Glasgow, hybrid working 3 days on site, 2 from home
