Assistant Accountant

Meraki Talent is delighted to be supporting our client, a successful medium-sized UK business, with the recruitment of an Assistant Accountant to join their Operational Finance team based in Glasgow.

This role will suit an individual who enjoys working in a supportive, delivery focused position, is comfortable taking direction from management, and consistently produces high-quality, accurate work. The Assistant Accountant will play an important role in supporting both month and year-end accounting processes.

As the business continues to grow through a planned and strategic model, there will be opportunities to add value across the finance function, with exposure to key financial MI metrics and operational data analysis.

• Support financial control and maintain the integrity of financial and management reporting
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of control accounts
• Reconcile data between operational systems and the general ledger
• Assist with the production of monthly trial balances and month-end reporting processes
• Manage finance transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely reconciliation
• Support the preparation of statutory accounts in line with reporting requirements
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and control procedures
• Deliver operational financial analysis and MI reporting
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimisation and automation

• Previous experience working within a multi-entity or group environment
• Strong understanding of financial transactions and balance sheet reconciliations
• Experience working with stakeholders, following instructions, and meeting deadlines
• Good awareness of compliance and regulatory requirements within a finance function
