Who can apply?

You need to be 2 years out from graduation and can be studying any degree discipline. Beyond that, you need to be curious to understand how a global bank adapts in a constantly evolving environment. We are recruiting on a rolling basis, so we recommend that students apply early.

Barclays does not provide sponsorship to attend the 2‑day insight programme. However, if you are successful in securing a 2027 Summer Internship, Barclays will apply for a skilled worker visa for you.

Working in Glasgow

While the Discovery Programme is virtual, if successful you will be based in Glasgow. Our campus provides inclusive, collaborative spaces and hybrid work opportunities.

Purpose of the role

To participate in the day‑to‑day activities of the retail banking division, providing insights and expertise that help senior colleagues make informed decisions, develop new products and services, and identify new market opportunities.

Accountabilities
  • Execution of small research projects, preparation of presentations and reports to communicate findings, collaboration with senior management.
  • Collaboration with cross‑functional teams to support business initiatives.
  • Participation in training and development programs.
  • Identification of opportunities, development of business cases, and management of new product launch.
  • Client relationship management and provision of customer service support.
  • Development and implementation of financial models and strategies.
  • Training and mentoring of junior colleagues.
Analyst Expectations
  • Perform prescribed activities in a timely manner and to a high standard.
  • Show in‑depth technical knowledge and experience in their assigned area.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviours (if leading a team) or develop technical expertise as an individual contributor.
  • Take responsibility for end results, manage risk, and uphold regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate complex or sensitive information to stakeholders.
  • Act as a contact point for stakeholders outside of the immediate function.
