Overview
Scottish Friendly is an established, progressive mutual life insurance office based in Glasgow City Centre with a clear culture focused on customers and colleagues.
In this role you will receive exposure to senior stakeholders and collaborate with colleagues across multiple departments, understanding how your work contributes to the Society’s success.
Reporting to the Head of Financial & Insurance Risk, you will be involved in a wide range of risk and actuarial oversight activities.
Responsibilities- Work as part of the team to deliver the Pillar 2 methodology, models and ORSA results.
- Prepare the annual ICARA reporting for SFAM.
- Prepare quarterly risk reporting for submission to Executive and Risk Committees.
- Conduct in-depth risk assurance around key projects, asset management activities and product development.
- Manage the emerging risk identification process.
- Support the maintenance of the risk management framework, including setting risk appetite and risk policies.
- Help develop and maintain a clear risk culture.
- Build relationships with stakeholders across the business.
- Attend key committees and provide risk oversight.
- Present reports to a range of internal stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a recently or newly qualified actuary with experience across a range of actuarial topics within the pensions, life insurance and/or savings sector. Strong attention to detail, a risk‑based mindset and financial modelling experience—including testing and documenting—are essential.
