Job Description Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Geo-Environment consultant to join our growing Investigations and Remediation team
, with opportunities to be based across our offices – Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Croydon, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, and Plymouth – and an option for hybrid working.

In this role as Senior Geo-Environmental consultant, you will lead ground investigation, contamination assessment, and remediation projects, acting as project manager and giving technical direction.

In any given period, the AECOM Investigations and Remediation Practice in the UK&I is working on approximately 400 live projects. Our experts provide one-stop access to services ranging from desk studies, site investigation, risk assessment, remediation (strategy development, design, implementation, and validation), monitoring, and close-out on a wide range of contracts.

The work we undertake covers sectors from transportation (road, rail, airports, and ports), industrial for specialist manufacturer clients, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, renewables (solar, hydrogen, wind, and pump-hydro), developers, defence, public bodies such as Natural England and the National Trust, and government agencies including the Environment Agency, SEPA, DEFRA, and local authorities.

Responsibilities
  • You will prepare fee proposals for external and internal clients and lead the input to projects from desk study and feasibility through ground investigation and interpretation to final design.
  • You will develop conceptual site models, interpret soil/groundwater data, and progress projects through to remediation.
  • This role involves client management, project management, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • A degree in an environmental, science or engineering based subject and be working towards Chartered status through a recognised institution like the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) or The Geological Society of London. Others will also be considered.
