We are excited to be looking for a Civil Engineering (Traffic Engineering) apprentice to join our Glasgow office. You will work towards achieving a UK Level 6 qualification at the University of Strathclyde, the University of the West of Scotland, Heriot‑Watt University or Edinburgh Napier University.

Aboutthe opportunity
The apprentice Traffic Engineers will join our Transport Planning and Mobility Solutions team which is part of our Cities & Places business unit. We create thriving places across different scales: from regions to cities, neighbourhoods to sites, by offering an integrated design approach. Our business unit brings together transport planners, engineers, architects, designers, surveyors, urban designers and project managers to provide collaborative and coordinated value design solutions for our clients both nationally and internationally.
Our team's skillsets cover the full remit of transport planning across all modes: from high level policy and strategy advice through transport modelling / appraisal to active travel, streets design, traffic engineering and junction design. We are interested in hearing from candidates who are keen to develop a rounded set of skills, as well as those who have more specialised interests, including civil and traffic engineering, active travel scheme design and transformational placemaking, transport decarbonisation, traffic management solutions and public transport schemes.
You will have the support of a mentor, our management team, and experts who will help guide your progress. You will also be given the opportunity to pursue relevant business and technical training to support your career development, as well as room to grow your network and knowledge base to create innovative solutions.
Here’s what you’ll need- At least 120 UCAS tariff points, including grade B in A‑level Mathematics or equivalent
- A keen interest in traffic engineering and transport planning
- Strong communication and team working skills
- A flexible and proactive self‑starter who’s passionate about developing new skills
- The ability to adapt and prioritise whilst juggling work and study priorities
- Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply your skills to solve real‑world problems
- Empathy and listening skills to help you truly understand our clients’ requirements
- A well‑rounded person – worked in a bar? Been captain of a sports team or volunteered for a charity? Tell us – we’re looking for people with interesting stories and experiences!
- You must have the permanent right to work in the UK
Apply before 5th January 2026 for your application to be considered in the first assessment window. You can still apply after this date if the role remains open to applications. However, you do so with the knowledge that we may not proceed with your application if the role is filled in the first assessment window.
