Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Design Manager, project leads, and clients to define the scope of civil design work, ensuring clarity on technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare detailed civil engineering designs, calculations, and drawings for site infrastructure, drainage systems, earthworks, and structural foundations, in line with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, structural, etc.) to coordinate civil design elements; provide technical guidance to junior designers and drafters.
  • Ensure designs adhere to local and international civil engineering standards, health and safety regulations, environmental considerations, and planning laws.
  • Update and refine designs in response to project scope changes, client requirements, or site conditions, maintaining quality and compliance.
  • Produce and review design reports, technical specifications, and tender documents, ensuring they accurately reflect design intentions.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, provide updates on design progress, and prepare status reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project goals; ensure peer-review and approval prior to client submission.
  • Utilize industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit to create accurate civil design solutions.
What We’re Looking For

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartered status with Engineers Ireland, ICE, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil engineering design, preferably in an office environment working on large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects; experience with earthworks, drainage, foundations, and site development. Experience in roads, railways, canals, pipelines, or underground transmission lines is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit; strong knowledge of civil engineering standards and Eurocodes; excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities; strong interpersonal skills and experience liaising with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
