Job Description
We’re looking for a hands-on, team-focused engineer confident working across a broad range of FM tasks. As part of our multi‑skilled team, you’ll support both planned and reactive maintenance across several buildings on the Glasgow campus.
You will take a flexible, proactive approach to all aspects of building fabric maintenance - from resolving fabric issues and assisting with PPMs to maintaining the high standards expected on site. A strong commitment to teamwork, health and safety, quality assurance, and compliance with company and client procedures is essential.
This is a great opportunity to join a professional, multi‑disciplinary team on a flagship site, with clear scope for development and career progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold engineering standards and the Health & Safety at Work Act (HASAWA), maintaining accurate quality-assurance records.
- Respond promptly to fabric-related faults and help-desk calls, covering walls, floors, ceilings, furniture, doors, windows, drainage, lighting and décor.
- Deliver minor repairs, painting/redecorating and other semi-skilled tasks while actively supporting planned-preventive maintenance (PPM) activities.
- Carry out technical surveys, report findings, and prepare concise costed scopes for minor works.
- Coordinate, brief and supervise specialist sub-contractors; inspect and sign off completed works.
- Liaise directly with clients, handle enquiries or complaints, and communicate actions taken to line management.
- Champion continuous improvement by suggesting and implementing service enhancements.
- Maintain tools, equipment and safe working areas, and complete all required training.
- Provide cover at nearby sites and help the team develop contingency measures to keep services fully operational.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Proven experience working in Facilities Management, ideally on large or critical site environments.
- Strong background in building and facilities maintenance, with a flexible, hands-on approach to a wide range of tasks.
- Relevant trade qualifications, preferably in joinery or carpentry, applicable to FM settings.
- Additional certifications such as IPAF, PASMA, or L8 are desirable.
- A team player who fits well within a multi-skilled environment and is willing to support colleagues across various FM duties.
