Trainee Materials Technician – SOCOTEC UK & Ireland

We are looking for a dependable, dedicated and flexible Trainee Materials Technician to join our UKAS accredited Materials Team. As a member of the materials team, it is key that you are able to thrive both in a team environment and independently. The fundamental part of the role is to determine the physical properties of a wide range of materials—including concrete, earthworks, aggregates and bituminous mixtures—to ensure compliance with specifications.

All testing will be undertaken in line with a range of British, European and American standards, so a strong attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures is required.

• Sampling and testing of construction materials
• Field testing
• Collection of samples for laboratory testing

• Able to work as part of a team
• Ability to work alone on site
• Good communication skills

Our Materials Testing team performs an extensive range of testing and compliance services across a wide range of construction projects—including highways, rail, airfields, ports and harbours, power stations, sports stadia and new build projects across industrial, commercial and residential properties.
