Packaging Developer (12 month FTC)This direct‑search role at Bacardi supports key technical packaging projects for our Whisky and Gin brands such as DEWAR’S®, Aberfeldy and BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® while also driving business‑critical initiatives like Business Continuity (BCP), Value Creation and Sustainability.

What does a Packaging Developer do?The Packaging Developer will support key technical packaging projects and business‑critical projects ensuring high‑quality packs delivered on time with best value and quality.
About YouYou will work in an agile, changing environment, collaborating closely with internal and external partners to deliver projects with operational and technical discipline. You will be a knowledgeable technical partner with strong execution skills and passion for excellence.
Responsibilities- Develop robust packaging specifications and all components meeting brand equity, manufacturing constraints, project cost and timeline, legal and Bacardi quality standards.
- Review DFMEA with suppliers and plants to identify risks.
- Create and execute robust test plans and produce high‑quality trial reports.
- Elevate technical or project risks to manager and lead packaging development autonomously when required.
- Ensure suppliers can manufacture specifications/components to capable standards through effective sampling and production.
- Lead and record all trials & testing and obtain stakeholder approvals.
- Advance technical knowledge and innovation in packaging.
- Collaborate with QA, manufacturing and procurement to resolve issues and drive mold and packing line qualification.
- Create and route robust packaging specifications for approval meeting all criteria.
- Master test methods, ship test protocols and mold qualification.
- Bring innovative ideas through supplier scouting and visits.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging or related field such as mechanical engineering, material science, etc. - Minimum two years of experience in packaging development or related operations (QA, packing line, or packaging supplier).
- Broad understanding of packaging component development, molding, packing line and supply chain qualification.
- Ability to quickly understand packaging materials and systems to create fit‑for‑use specifications.
- Understanding of technical drivers of component cost and ability to work with procurement for best value.
- Mastery in risk assessment for packaging components and overall pack life cycle.
- Basic project management skills.
- CAD or 3D CAD capability is a plus.
