Senior Mechanical Engineer – High RiseRamboll is seeking a Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our High‑Rise Spearhead Department in Glasgow. The role focuses on concept and detailed mechanical design for high‑rise and complex projects.
Key Responsibilities- Delivery of mechanical design on high‑rise and/or complex projects.
- Oversee design from concept to detailed design, ensuring technical excellence and outstanding client service.
- Present highly visual and graphical designs.
- Act as Lead Mechanical Designer, coordinating tasks to meet deadlines and priorities.
- Support and positively influence junior staff across offices and project work streams.
- Respond quickly to client and architectural requirements for plant space, riser requirements and energy strategy.
- Participate in competitions that require innovative thinking.
- Apply site knowledge, understanding of Builders Work implications and public health design principles.
- Embed sustainable principles within designs.
- Become an integral part of the high‑rise Spearhead team, taking responsibility for mechanical design.
- Ensure technical quality in mechanical design output.
Help deliver projects profitably and to client satisfaction.
- Qualified Engineer with 6‑10 years’ experience and a proven track record.
- Degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Accredited honours degree with CIBSE / IET / IMechE Engineering Council recognition.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards IEng/CEng.
- Understanding of commercial and technical risks and ability to act appropriately.
- Experience with digital and parametric design tools (Rhino, Grasshopper, Revitis).
- Ability to apply mechanical design principles to computational methods.
- Portfolio demonstrating creative thinking, technical skill and complex geometry handling.
- Excellent spoken and written English; ability to present and lead workshops.
- Prepared for international project work.
- Adaptable communication style to explain complex technical concepts to clients.
- High attention to detail and pride in work.
- Motivating and inspiring confidence in peers and clients.
- Ability to work autonomously on technical discipline and guide junior engineers.
