You will play a key role in elevating our HV substations to high standards by supporting capital investment projects, overseeing and executing both planned and reactive activities, and providing cross‑functional support for our essential, statutory, and scheduled maintenance programs. Your contributions will ensure ongoing compliance and reliability throughout our assets and high voltage network.
You will also contribute to fault finding, process improvement, and technical reporting ensuring best practice and compliance with statutory requirements.
What you’ll doYou’ll be responsible for planning and scheduling HV maintenance across the network up to 33kV, making sure both planned and reactive tasks are managed smoothly. You’ll work closely with contractors, internal teams, and stakeholders to keep everything on track, always ensuring safety standards and regulatory requirements are met.
You’ll confidently diagnose and resolve issues during maintenance, capturing any follow‑on work and keeping records accurate and up to date. You’ll also play a key role in supporting essential, statutory, and planned maintenance activities, working with procurement and standards teams to make sure best practice is followed across the board.
You’ll bring a supportive approach to coaching and developing wider team members, and you’ll carry out safety and quality audits across our HV supply chain and partners. Your commitment to doing things safely, efficiently, and to a high standard will help keep our network running reliably.
What you’ll needYou’ll be safety‑conscious with a strong commitment to doing things the right way, following compliance and safe working practices at all times. You’ll be highly organised, able to plan and prioritise effectively, and confident tackling technical challenges with solid problem‑solving and diagnostic skills. A strong understanding of safe isolation, lock‑off, proving dead and permit‑to‑work processes is essential in this role.
You’ll also bring an HNC in electrical engineering or an equivalent qualification, giving you the technical foundation needed to work safely and competently in an electrical environment.
