Position: Regional Manager (Europe)

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Regional Manager is responsible for ensuring the University meets agreed targets for tuition fee revenue and commencing student numbers across the identified recruitment regions. This includes the management of relationships with education agents, trans-national education partners and foreign government scholarship offices. The Regional Manager (Europe) will be engaged under the University’s managed service agreement with Successedu Professional Services LLC-FZ.

The Regional Manager (Europe), working as part of a global in-country team, will assist in the development and implementation of marketing plans to recruit students into priority programs, as defined in the university’s International Student Recruitment Plan.

The Future Students International (FSI) team sits within the university’s Academic Division and is responsible for delivering University of Newcastle’s internationalization strategy, a key pillar of Looking Ahead. The division engages collaboratively across the world, building the University’s profile and reputation, creating diverse opportunities for students, staff, alumni and community.

The FSI team works to position the University as a leading destination for students from across the world. It leads student recruitment activities, promotes international student mobility, and facilitates sustainable institutional collaborations and partnerships, enhancing the University’s global profile.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
  • Student Recruitment: Engage agents to drive applications/enrolments into priority programs via promotion, monitoring, and follow-ups, meeting revenue/EFTSL targets, conversion rates, and minimising visa rejections.
  • Partnership Development: Build/maintain relationships with agents, schools, students, sponsors, and governments through intelligence sharing, due diligence, and compliance/training frameworks, ensuring annual reviews and up-to-date agent knowledge.
  • Strategic Planning: Plan/manage regional recruitment (markets, programs, channels), represent at events, align with budgets for ROI, and deliver intelligence/competitor reports per detailed country plans.
  • Technical Capabilities: Expertly use Dynamics CRM, NUSTAR, Ascent One to monitor pipelines and boost year-on-year conversion via agent engagement.
  • Risk & Compliance: Uphold ESOS Act/international standards knowledge, ensuring zero audit issues and minimal complaints/breaches across partners
POSITION CHARACTERISTICS

Requires autonomous decision-making, deep knowledge of education policies/legislation, and frequent travel. Key relationships include FSI staff, agents, and government bodies like Austrade. No WWC or criminal checks needed.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • Extensive international education experience, ideally within the higher education sector, with a European context.
  • Demonstrated expertise in use of core systems for information and analytics, with the ability to quickly develop expertise in university-specific systems to support data-driven recruitment strategies.
  • Proven experience in developing innovative recruitment and marketing strategies.
  • Highly developed problem-solving and organisational skills, with an ability to manage multiple complex tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with an awareness of cross‑cultural sensitivity.
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills, including preparation of board papers, performance reports, and strategic presentations.
  • Experience in conducting individual and group training sessions, including content creation.

It is highly desirable that the successful applicant have the following:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in English and at least one other language widely used in the European region.
