Locum Consultants Wanted – Join SJK Healthcare Today! Are you an Anaesthetist in ENT, Ophthalmology & Orthopaedics looking for flexible locum opportunities in Scotland? SJK Healthcare is actively recruiting JAG-accredited consultant endoscopists for our NHS client across a range of NHS Hospitals in Scotland. Hours are 8am - 6pm Saturday and Sunday. Pay is £500 per session.

The Anaesthetist is a medical doctor responsible for the safe administration of anaesthesia and perioperative care of patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures. The role includes pain management, critical care, and emergency resuscitation, ensuring patient safety before, during, and after procedures.
Key Responsibilities Pre-operative Care- Assess patients prior to surgery, including medical history, physical examination, and risk evaluation
- Develop and explain anaesthetic plans to patients and obtain informed consent
- Order and interpret relevant investigations (e.g. blood tests, ECGs, imaging)
- Administer general, regional, or local anaesthesia safely
- Monitor vital signs and patient condition throughout procedures
- Manage airway, ventilation, and haemodynamic stability
- Respond rapidly to complications or emergencies
- Oversee patient recovery from anaesthesia in recovery units or ICU
- Manage post-operative pain, nausea, and complications
- Communicate with surgical teams regarding patient progress
- Provide pain management services, including acute and chronic pain clinics
- Participate in critical care and emergency response teams
- Supervise and train junior doctors, nurses, and anaesthetic assistants
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Comply with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in audits, research, and continuing professional development (CPD)
- Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent)
- Completion of specialist training in Anaesthesiology
- Full medical registration and specialist certification (as required by country)
- Valid license to practice medicine
- Advanced Life Support (ALS/ACLS) certification
