PROPOSED SALARY RANGE £41,200‑£49,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OFTHE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity to join the video team for 12 months as a senior production journalist. We are looking for someone with excellent editorial instincts and creative flair to work with the team that makes Reporting Scotland on BBC One Scotland and Reporting Scotland News at Seven on the BBC Scotland channel.

YourKey Responsibilities And Impact
- Work with the editor, assistant editors, presenters and journalists to shape the daily news programmes we make.
- Take on a variety of shifts and roles, including working closely with presenters to produce and transmit the 1330 and 1830 editions of Reporting Scotland on BBC One Scotland and also Reporting Scotland News at Seven on the BBC Scotland channel.
- Work some weekend shifts.
- A strong editorial background and a good understanding of Scotland’s political and cultural life, institutions and communities.
- An extensive understanding of the news agenda. Good knowledge of the stories which affect a Scottish audience.
- Good production skills – from editing material, booking guests and writing sharp, impartial and crucially accurate copy.
- Significant previous experience of working in a newsroom environment and the ability to adapt to new systems.
- As an experienced journalist, an understanding of how Reporting Scotland and the News at Seven present stories in an impartial and accurate way, especially when reporting on controversial issues.
- Creative thinking, coming up with ideas and turning them into exciting television on a daily news programme.
- The confidence to contribute to and lead editorial discussions and a high degree of motivation and a can‑do attitude.
