Main Purpose of Job
Lead the estimating function for heavy civils & groundworks projects, with a strong focus on self-delivery experience in Data Centres or similar complex projects
. Provide accurate cost planning and tender submissions, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client expectations.
The role requires technical expertise in estimating for large-scale heavy civils & groundworks projects and leadership skills to manage preconstruction activities effectively.
- Estimating Leadership – Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civils & groundworks projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Self-Delivery Expertise – Apply knowledge of direct delivery methodologies, particularly in Data Centres or similar environments.
- Scope Analysis – Review project specifications, drawings, and contractual documents to identify risks, opportunities, and cost drivers.
- Risk & Opportunity Management – Assess potential risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies.
- Tender Preparation – Lead the compilation of tender submissions, including pricing, methodology, and supporting documentation.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with clients, supply chain partners, and internal teams to ensure clarity and alignment.
- Cost Control & Benchmarking – Maintain cost databases and provide benchmarking insights for future projects.
- Governance & Compliance – Ensure adherence to company policies, governance frameworks, and industry standards.
- Team Development – Mentor junior estimators and contribute to building a high-performing preconstruction team.
- Reporting – Provide accurate and timely reports to the Preconstruction Director on estimating progress and outcomes.
- Proven experience as a Senior Estimator in heavy civils & groundworks.
- Strong understanding of self-delivery methodologies.
- Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office.
- Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Membership of RICS or equivalent professional body.
