The Role

As a Third in Charge, you play a crucial role in supporting the management team and ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the nursery, ultimately contributing to the positive experiences and outcomes of the children in your care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Management: Assist the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the nursery, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and policies.
  • Staff Supervision: Provide support and guidance to nursery staff, including key workers and assistants, monitoring their performance and offering feedback as needed.
  • Curriculum Development: implement engaging and age-appropriate activities that promote children's learning and development across all areas.
  • Child Welfare: Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children within the nursery, ensuring that appropriate policies and procedures are followed and that any concerns are reported and addressed promptly.
  • Parent Communication: Foster positive relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on their child's progress and addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Health and Safety :
    Ensure that the nursery environment is safe and well-maintained, conducting regular risk assessments and implementing appropriate health and safety measures.
  • Team

    Collaboration:

    Work collaboratively with other members of the nursery management team and staff to promote a positive and inclusive working environment, fostering teamwork and mutual support.
  • Role Model: Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the nursery's values and ethos in all interactions with children, families, and colleagues.
