An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, innovative candidate who is ready to make an impact on Procurement within our leading international technological University.
This role is for a Senior Procurement/Policy Specialist sitting within the University’s centralised procurement team within finance, reporting to the Head of Procurement and supporting the wider team. You will play a key role in the delivery of the procurement strategy across the University and ensuring that the University’s procurement activity achieves value for money and is compliant with public sector procurement regulations.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with our cyber security team who are embarking on an ambitious cyber improvement programme. This role will support the procurement activity under this programme and will also work to develop and enhance our policies and processes, thereafter, embedding cyber security and other requirements into procurement processes. Developing a robust assessment of supplier risk and working with the wider team to ensure ongoing compliance to protect the integrity of our supply chain.
With strong experience of working within a strategic procurement environment, the post holder will also have responsibility for the strategic sourcing and commercial management of designated goods, services and works related commodities ensuring maximisation of cost efficiencies through the implementation of best procurement practice. This role will take the lead and be responsible for their assigned portfolio particularly focussing on policy development, value for money against business need, risk reduction and delivery of sustainable procurement outcomes.
Applicants should have a relevant degree or equivalent. You should have sound experience in both strategic procurement environment and policy development. As well as strong working knowledge of legislation and contract law and a proven record of accomplishment in delivering robust commercially sound contracts.
