Senior Payroll Advisor

Up to £35,000 DOE

Glasgow | Hybrid working

Full-time (Part-time considered)

Pertemps are working on behalf of a well-established Chartered Accountancy firm based in Glasgow, with over 60 years’ experience supporting businesses and private clients across Central Scotland and beyond.

The firm is a Chartered Accountant and Registered Auditor, regulated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), with a diverse and loyal client portfolio that includes private individuals, sole traders, partnerships, and sizeable owner-managed businesses.

Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Senior Payroll Advisor to join their friendly and professional team.

The role

As a Senior Payroll Advisor, you’ll take ownership of a varied payroll portfolio and play a key role in delivering a high-quality, compliant payroll service to clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • End-to-end administration of multiple client payrolls across weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly cycles
  • Timely RTI submissions and end-of-year processing, including P60s
  • Processing manual payroll calculations
  • Applying in-depth knowledge of PAYE, NIC and statutory payments (SMP, SAP, SPP, SSP)
  • Managing pension schemes, including Auto Enrolment processes and uploads to pension provider portals
  • Staying up to date with payroll legislation and compliance requirements
  • Liaising proactively with HMRC and supporting with technical queries
  • Building strong working relationships with internal teams and external contacts
  • Using initiative to identify and resolve payroll issues

About you

You’ll be an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

You will ideally have:

  • At least 2 years’ payroll experience (payroll bureau experience preferred)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation
  • Sage 50 Payroll experience (desirable – training provided)
  • Knowledge of CIS (desirable)
  • Strong IT and numeracy skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
